16 Months

Violet turned 16 months on November 2nd.  Can't believe she is almost 1 1/2!  She weighs almost 26 pounds now.  She doesn't miss many meals...She seems to get smarter everyday, along with messier everyday.  I don't get how one little person can make soooo many huge messes in a matter of minutes.  Our house (every room) is in constant disarray.  If I want to go upstairs to get dressed or even brush my hair, she has to go with me.  And then she has to pull everything out of the bathroom drawers and take half of it to her room.  You could literally break your ankle walking through my house.  I won't even get started on the snacks that get crushed all over.  I think when you decide to be a mom you decide to be a maid too.

V has started to say lots of things.  She tries to copy us all the time.  Some of the words she frequently says are yucky, stinky, yuck, Barney, Caillou (eyeee), Lets Go, What you doing, doggie, woof woof, uh oh, baby, num num (thats feeding her baby sound effects).  We have a book with pictures of lots of things like an apple, ball, flower, cat, etc and when you ask her where each one is she points at the correct one.  She is obssessed with reading books.  You ask her to bring you one and she will spend the next 10 minutes bringing you EVERY book she owns.  And then she wants you to read them all.

She is a funny girl and will go and get a diaper out and then lay on the floor waiting for a diaper change... even if I didn't ask her to get one.  She like to change the TV channel and turn the overhead light and fan on also.  Oh and recently she HAS to turn the bathroom light off after a bath.  She still loves baths and will sit in there even after I have let the water out.  She even pours the water over her head (into her eyes) just like mommy does to wash her hair.

She is at the stage where she wants to do everything herself.  She doesn't want help.  She freaks out if I'm drinking something, especially in a water bottle or a soda.  She wants it and doesn't want me to help her.  Sometimes I get frustrated with the tantrum that ensues so I let her pour the whole water bottle over herself.  The only problem with that is that she doesn't seem to mind being soaking wet.  Or if I'm eating something.  She has to be eating it too.  Its like a little puppy dog.

She loves to flush the toilet but I don't think she is anywhere near being able to actually go potty in it.  She loves to use a fork and LOVES to dip her food in sauce.  Give the girl some ranch and she will eat whatever you put in front of her.  She isn't very good at juice boxes -- she drinks about half without a problem and then squeezes the box and it squirts everywhere.  She also recently has been squeezing those baby food squeeze packs.. right onto my living room rug.

She is great about not touching dog poop.  Miracle right?? I guess with as many dogs as we have she is used to it and just points to it for me to clean up.  She could play outside for hours on end and her favorite toy out there is the dog bowls.  She carriers them all over the yard. She loves airplanes and as soon as she hears one she looks for it and points. She still copies me also when I yell at the dogs.  She waves her arms and yells jibberish with doggie in there somewhere.

She is a terror at any store we go to.  She refuses to sit in the front basket so she rides in back.  She crushes and stomps all the boxes, starts eating snacks and her favorite... to dump the snacks through the holes in the bottom of the cart.  Last week I caught her squeezing one of those baby food things through the hole.  I pretty much am OVER running any errands unless its a quick trip to safeway with her.  Its not worth my sanity.  And DO NOT go down any aisle with toys or trinkets of any kind.  She freaks out.  Especially the baby doll row and the one with the toy dogs that bark.  (Yes she has one-- I wasn't in the mood for the tantrum that day). And balloons... darn Safeway for having like 50 balloons throughout the store.  You can always find a balloon at our house now.  A few weeks ago the craziness reduced me to tears.  She stepped on a huge bottle of dish soap in the cart and it spilled all over her and all my groceries.  I didn't notice till I was loading them in the car.  The  darn prego hormones made me lose it.

She still loves Caillou, ok, more than loves.  She likes Barney and still enjoys watching both shows on my phone.  She also loves looking at pictures of herself on my phone.  And recently she is hooked on watching videos of herself on the Flip video camera.  She will watch that thing till the battery dies and then cry and cry.  She loves to pretend to talk on the phone with my phone or a pretend one.  She will have full on conversations.  She loves Britney Spears and dances to her songs.  I have one of her videos on my phone and V will sit and watch the whole thing.  She also goes crazy in the car when I play the Selena Gomez CD (dork I know).

She loves to dance and recently started singing.. the words make no sense but you can tell she is singing.  If you start singing a song she joins in with her own rendition.  Her favorite toys are her baby dolls and their strollers and cribs.  A true girl.  She still doesn't like headbands but has gotten a little better.  Hats too.  She hates socks but would wear her outdoor boots all day if I let her.  She loves lotion and will have me put some in her hand over and over and over.

She can throw a mean tantrum and throw herself on the ground and does it quite frequently lately.  She actually understands the things we say to her which is pretty cool.  She is an early riser which I don't love, but hey atleast she usually sleeps through the night.

Oh and this is hilarious.. she has an alter ego.  Seriously.  She is obsessed with pretending to be blind.  It is the FUNNIEST thing ever.  We call her Helen Keller.  She walks around with her eyes shut, bumping into stuff with the hugest grin on her face.  She even eats like that sometimes.  This happens a few times a day.  Justin and I are like, "Helens here".  Its the wierdest yet the funniest thing ever.  Maybe she thinks we can't see her?

Allright, well that is all I can think of right now about our sweet, crazy, messy Violet.  She is definitely a hand full and definitely a pure joy.  I better get back to cleaning!

no its not open... I think she has enough energy without an energy drink!

  1. I love reading about V's personality. She reminds me of Mallory so I can only imagine that some of the stuff you're going through, I'll be there soon enough too! Cheers to strong-willed little girls!
