Car Caddy

So I wanted to share this adorable car caddy I made for my friend's son because it is just so darn cute and its rare that I get to make things for boys.  Sometimes amidst all the pink, sparkles, bows and tulle I do get an inkling to create something boyish.. just a little.  (don't get me wrong, i do really really want another girl)

So here it is.. I got the tutorial over at homemade by jill.  Love love her blog.

Here it is all folded up

unfolded- cute little numbered slots for his cars

the other side of it-denim  (don't you love the fabric I found for the car?)

and I had to make a matching little drawstring bag to hold the caddy and his cars... I freezer paper stenciled the P, his name is Parker.  This was my first time freezer paper stenciling and I love love loved it.  So fun and simple.

How cute is that? Hmm.. maybe Violet needs a pink one... do they make pink matchbox cars?

Babies

Violet's favorite thing to do is look at pictures on our laptop.  On our desktop background we have pictures of her that rotate.  She gets sooooo excited and tries to climb on the computer and push the buttons and touch the screen.  She laughs and shrieks and seriously can look at them for like 30 minutes straight.  She just loves looking at pictures at babies.  One of her favorites is looking at baby Hudson Hardy on their family blog.  It's too cute!  I got her a book of a bunch of babies making faces and a baby toy photo album that I put pics of her in.  She can look at it and chew all over it and the pics are protected in plastic slots.

Walky Walky

We got Violet a walker and boy does she love it.  She scoots all around so quickly! We have a big open front room with hardwood so she has lots of space to move.  When she gets stuck she can even scoot her way out of it.  Our house is so overrun with baby gear!

(i just tried out picnik photo editing so thats why they are all diff..)

CopyCat

Violet is such a copycat now.  Usually she just copies sounds and noises or sticking out her tongue... Now she mimicks actions!

6 Month Appointment

Today Violet had her 6 month appointment.  She is a healthy happy little girly! She weighs 18 lbs 5 oz which is the 86th percentile.  She is 26.5 inches tall which is the 72nd percentile and her head is in the 75th percentile.  The doc said she is well preportioned just super sized.  Ha.  I like that.  She had to get 3 shots including the flu shot.  She has to go back in 4 weeks for another flu shot too.  She did so good though, she only cried for like 5 seconds on the tetanus shot which the nurse said stings.  She got a tongue depresser with stickers on the top for being so good.  She loves the thing and has been carrying it around all day and chewing on it.

The doctor said she is ahead of the class on a few things, I knew I had a genius on my hands!  She said Violet is sitting up pretty early and the fact that she knows who is mom and who isn't and gets separation anxiety already is ahead of the game.  Also I told her that she has been saying "mamamama" and I guess babies don't usually start that until 9 months or so.  I feel like I am one of those annoying moms who brags about their baby but I am just so darn proud of her!

Her doc could see her teeth about to come through and said within the next month they would.  She said she would be probably crawling any day now so get started on baby proofing! I can't believe we are already to that point! Time flies.  She said that Violet can eat anything but honey now which is pretty cool.  She said I could chew up my food a little and feed it to her.. even ribs, chicken wings and ice cream! (I swear she said those foods! how funny huh) She recommended I start feeding V the 2nd stage baby foods like the beef and chicken noodle and all those dinner jars.  I guess she will sleep better at night once she starts those because it will be actual food filling her tummy.  I gave her the chicken noodle tonight and she loved it! I also bought a bunch of those little snacks they make for babies like the little puff balls and yogurt melts.

Here is a sneak peak at her 6 month pics, I will try to post tomorrow..

Officially Sitting up!

Violet can now sit up for long periods of time all by herself! Yay! I set her up on her blanket with her toys and she will play and play! Like 10 to 15 minutes at a time with no help! Eventually she gets antsy and starts to squirm around and tips over but she is actually doing it! Everyday she can do it for longer and longer and is starting to be able to balance herself so good.  When she starts to wobble she can actually steady herself! So proud of my little muchkin!

Today I took her to the gym with me for the first time and she did great in the kids club! She only cried the last 15 minutes or so (Only left her for an hour so I could do a class).  I am stoked to start working out again and plan to take her with me about 3 times a week.  She will be used to it in no time!

She also has started to say "mamamamama".  Soooooo... not sure if she knows what she is saying for sure but she is totally saying it.  My mom says she could be attempting to say it but not know exactly what it means.  How cool. Another thing she has been doing lately is being obsessed with water bottles.  She opens her mouth and i put the bottle in her mouth (she puts her whole mouth around the top) and I dribble some into her mouth.  Its so funny, she sticks her tongue out and trys to lap it up out of the bottle.  She starts to whine if I stop.  Too funny.

Heres the cute little monkey...

Sew Happy

Gosh I love sewing.  It makes me so happy.  Even though I still can't sew a straight line I adore it.  I never have much time for it anymore but sometimes after Violet hits the sack I do.  I have like a list of 100 projects I want to make, hopefully eventually I'll get some done.  I love looking at craft blogs and get so many ideas from them.  I could spend 8 hours at a time looking them.  My bookmark list is sooooo long with crafts and tutorials.  People are so creative!

Anyways, I made a few things lately for Christmas, thought I'd share em.  I made something really cute for my friend's son for his 1st bday but I haven't given it to them yet so I can't show you! I'll post pics after they get it.

Hysterical

Check out Violet laughing hysterically at my MIL's dog Cupcake.  So so so funny.  I have never seen her laugh so hard.
