First Bath and First Stroller Ride

It took over two weeks for Annabelle's darn imbillical cord stub to fall off so we were finally able to give her a bath.  The sponge baths were not cutting it anymore especially with all her puking.  She did not enjoy her first tub experience, pretty sure most babies don't though!

I got this awesome new stroller that seats two.  You can flip the seats every which way and it holds an infant seat.  We took it out to our favorite park - Mahany park in Roseville.

The First Two Weeks

Hmmm.. where to start? The first two weeks home with baby Annabelle were kinda a nightmare.  A few days after we got home from the hospital we took V to the dr and found out she had double ear infections again and bronchitis.  She was miserable to say the least.  We tried our hardest to keep her away from the baby but that was impossible.  Violet was all about her new baby sis.  So our poor sweet newborn got a terrible cold at only a few days old.  Lets just say it scared the crap out of me.  I was so scared it would turn into bronchitis or phneumonia.  She was stuffed up and coughing that terrible barky cough. And then she started puking.  I don't mean regular baby spit up.  I mean projectile, across the room, like 6 oz. at a time.  It started happening more and more- like every feeding.  I was changing her clothes, blankets and sometimes my clothes 4 or 5 times a day.  Total nightmare.

We had an ultrasound on her tummy to check it out and it seems like shes ok.  We also had an xray on her chest to rule out bronchitis.  I feel like we have lived at the dr the past three weeks!  We are really watching her weight since she seems to puke up all her food.  When she was at the peak of her sickness she only gained half an ounce in 4 days, now we are up to half an ounce a day so things are getting better.  Her puking has also gotten better, but we do have her on an acid reflux medicine because she has constant tummy aches.  The poor girl gets one every feeding.  So we will see where it goes from here.  The dr. says as she gets older the acid reflux will get better.

Besides all that nonsense little V had a horrific time adjusting to new baby sis.  She completely loves her and was thrilled she was home yet couldn't understand why she was sharing mommy.   Violet is the ultimate mommy's girl so not having mommy all to herself was pretty darn hard for her.  She started acting out and throwing all day tantrums.  I can't even explain how hard it was.  She spent a few days pretty much throwing herself on the ground screaming ALL DAY.  It seemed like it would never end.  It was like our sweet Violet had completely dissapeared and some other little girl was at our house.  So totally not prepared for her to react that way.  I can happily say that now, our sweet V is back.  She does throw tantrums more often but I think that is because she is almost 2.  So glad she adjusted relatively quick.  Not sure how long Justin and I could have handled that.

Heres some pics of our sweet girls... (and yes I am having a hay day dressing them up the same or color coordinated)

How cute are my matching girls?

Fancy Pants

Last week we took newborn photos of Annabelle as well as some sister pics and family pics.  I am so excited to see them!  The amazing Colleen Riley took them, and from what I've seen she is amazing!  I wanted to share the bloomer/headband set I made for A to wear.  I had to whip them up the night before, while being really sick so the sewing on the bloomers wasn't my best work.  I typically go for the pink, purple and sparkly stuff as you know but this this time, I wanted to do something different.  I saw a cute set similar to this on Pinterest and knew I wanted to replicate it.

Very peacocky right?  I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out.

I snapped a pic of V before we took pics in her cute getup...

We even took some pics of V holding Annabelle.  I'm dying to see those, way too cute.  Here's a couple we took after our long day of pics.

Such a big girl

Annabelle's Birth Story

I figure I should write about Annabelle's birth since I wrote a post on Violet's.  Not very entertaining to read for y'all but something for us to look back on.

I knew I was going to be induced around 39 weeks pretty much the whole pregnancy due to the size my tummy gets and apparently the size my babies get.  I was so excited to know I would be able to have everything clean, put away, laundry done... basically everything set up before I gave birth, including showering and putting makeup on.  I like to plan.  (Side note- cleaning your whole house at 39 weeks is not ideal, pretty much it was horrid)  So Monday the 6th my Dr told me to check in for the induction at 6:30.  No specification of AM or PM.  I assumed PM since all my friends got induced at night.  WRONG.  I get a call around 7:30 from the hospital wondering where I am.  Ugggg.  I freaked.  I was all ready to go that night, not that morning. I took the fastest shower ever, threw my clothes on, had Justin come home from work and had my mom pick up Violet.  We actually got to the hospital an hour after they called.  Pretty quick huh?

So things went smoothly the first few hours.  They broke my water at 10am and hooked me up to the pitocin.  A few hours later I was dying.  They had my pitocin turned way up and I was contracting like a maniac.  I kept asking when I could get an epidural and basically they wanted me to wait until I couldn't handle the pain.  Um... why was that necessary?  I'm still wondering that.  It didn't help my labor in any way to make me lie there in pain.  Finally I was groaning, moaning, crying and yes even a little screaming.  I have never experienced that much pain in my life.  I literally wanted to die.  I swore up and down I would never ever do this again.  I thought I would pass out from the pain.

Finally they came to do the epidural.  And of course, things didn't go smoothly there either.  The Dr couldn't get the epidural in.  He could get the big needle in but not the catheter they thread through that.  So, 45 minutes later, after 5 numbing shots and 5 giant needle pokes they got it to work.  All the while I'm having contractions with about 30 second breaks in between.  Snot is dripping down my face from crying and I really thought they wouldn't be able to get it to work.  At that point I think I would have passed out.

Once I had the epidural it was smooth sailing.  I was fully dilated about 2 hours later.  I started to shake like a drug addict at the end which meant my body was ready to get that baby out.  I pushed for about 8 minutes and out came my little chubby 8 lb baby.  I was shocked.  I pushed for 2 hours with V and labored for 15 hours.  Annabelle only took 7.5 hours total!  How so totally fast is that.  I think it''s funny that as the Dr. was pulling her out she exclaimed "Why do you make such big babies?".  Makes me laugh.  And I actually guessed her exact birth weight.

We stayed at the hospital two nights and sweet girl barely left my arms.  I was in love yet again with another perfect little girl.  Our hospital stay was good, nurses awesome, food- not so awesome.  I started puking and got very nauseas right before we left.  I guess all the pain killers and meds had built up in my system and were making me sick.  A few days later I felt much better.

So thats the story.  Way easier second time around.  Besides the pain they made me endure it was not bad at all.  Next time (yes, next time) I will demand an epidural sooner.  NOT doing that again.

About to leave for the hospital!

Time to put on the oh so cute gown

How cheesy is my grin

The Zoo Next Door

Our neighbors at the back of our field have quite the zoo.  Llamas, different kinds of sheep and rams, and goats.  It seems like they are always getting more animals.  Lately I have been taking V to the fence so she can see them all.  She absolutely loves it.  Especially when they make noise and the sheeps do their fancy jumps in the air.  Living in the country is awesome for the kiddies.

These Boots Were Made for Walkin'

Violet loves to put on Justin and I's shoes.  We have a basket by the back door for rain boots and such.  Look at our little monkey...

notice one Ugg is backwards?

Boot Socks

I'm sure you have seen all the cute boot socks on Pinterest lately.  I knew I had to have some.  I bought some leg warmers at Target and added some cream crochet lace and buttons to the top.  Easy and oh so cute.  I want to go to goodwill and pick up some sweaters to cut the sleeves off and make them with those.  How cute would that be?

I'll spare you a picture of my puffy bloated tree stumps sporting these.  I am thinking about wearing them for family pics when we do the newborn pics tho.  Maybe with some brown boots?

Valentines Day

Violet currently has a double ear infection (yes like her 20th this year) and bronchitis so we layed low for Valentines Day.  I was pretty excited for V to open her cute little Valentine Mailbox and get her treats.  I was also beyond excited to dress the girls up.  Justin and I hope to go out to dinner this Saturday to celebrate it.  Ruth Chris here I come.

She made her own candy soup
