Scootin' Around

Little V is so ready to crawl.  She wants to sooooo bad.  She tries her darndest, it's pretty cute to watch.  She has a foam playmat that she spends alot of time on (so she won't bang her head on the hardwood) and she has learned how to scoot herself off of it and across the room.

At first she just somehow would scoot on her butt around the room but now she leans forward, gets herself on her tummy and scoots backwards.  I have seen her up on her knees a few times rocking back and forth so I think she is getting close.  I probably pick her up and put her back onto the mat like 20 times a day.  She can literally get herself off of it in about 3 minutes.

This girl is ready to get moving!

Oh and something pretty cool also is that the other day she was saying "dadadadada"  He wasn't around to hear it unfortunately, but I'm sure she will do it again!

House Project #2

The master bedroom is done! Finally!  More importantly the whole upstairs is done and now I can move on to downstairs.  I am so excited about how it turned out.  I love it!

love love love it! Justin built me the bed crown, he did awesome! I just used some old curtains from my old house and sewed a few together to make them really long.  I also added some gold fringe to inner edges.  The paint color is inspired by Tiffany blue.  I actually took a little Tiffany jewelry bag into Lowe's to have them match it.

This is my very favorite piece of furniture I own! It used to be in the garage and Justin's parents used it for tools.  I knew it had potential!  I love me an antique and it just needed some TLC.  Justin painted it a glossy cream color and then I painted the decorative trim (you can't see the beautiful detail from the pic) in high gloss white and the blue.

Back left corner of the room, again, the curtains are from my old house, tassels from Ross, all the decor is mostly stuff I already had or from thrift shops.

Other side of the curtains and my Ikea wardrobe.  Love that thing, It fits perfectly behind the door.  I took off the boring metal knobs and replaced them with pink crystal antique style ones with mini tassles.

The pics on my dresser- love the little girl picture, its what I think Violet will look like!  The wedding party bouquets and my little chubby baby, only 2 weeks old.  I painted the back two frames to match the wall color.  The frame on the right was only a $1 at Ace hardware.  I love a good deal (ask my hubby and he will say I like too many good deals!)

Loooove my nightstands from Target.  I love the look of mirrored furniture.  I recovered my old lamps in turquoise and cream damask and changed the table knobs to pink glass.

These were made with wallpaper scraps

My side of the bed.  Don't you love the bottle with the rhinestone crown topper?  I love rhinestones and sparkle if you couldn't tell..

Got the wall decal on etsy, just added some gold trim to the wall sconce that was already there.  I really want a crystal (not real crystal) wall sconce and will probably replace that later.  The chair is a real antique.  It is awesome.  It belonged to Justin's Great Great Great Grandpa I believe.  I love how the leather is worn away in places and is scratched up.  Such character.

Right side wall- another antique dresser.  This was unpainted and just the bare wood so I did gloss white and added some clear crystal knobs.  I think this was Justin's grandma's.  The cute box on top holds all my rings and bracelets.

Next to the dresser in the last pic, by my side of the bed is this trio.  I hung them all on pink velvet ribbon.

Different view

My pillows! You can never have enough!  I made the back right one with the same fabric as the lampshades.  I also made the pink velvet one in front of that and of course the felt flower pillow as featured in my etsy shop.

You are probably wondering how I got away with all the pink... Justin was against it at first but now he says he loves the room, pink and all.

So thats it! I love everything about it!  It's a room that isn't used much but it makes me happy to walk in there.  Now onto the family room...

Valentines Day Gifts

I just wanted to share some cute Valentines Day gifts I made for Justin, my mom and my MIL.  Very easy yet super cute!  I made homemade bath salts.  The hubs is a huge bath taker so I thought it would be a fun thoughtful gift. Good bath salt can be expensive so I thought what the hey, lets give it a go. I bought some cheap glass corked bottles and cuted (is that a word? I don't think so) them up with labels, twine and tags.

To make the bath salt, all you  do is combine epsom salt ( you can use epsom and sea salt if you want) with essential oils and food coloring.  I mixed mine up with different scents and colors, of course pink for the ladies, in a tupperware bowl and then funneled it into the bottles.  I actually first filled the bottles with the salt to get the right measurement of how much I would need and then mixed a batch for each bottle since I wanted diff. scents for each.  And whallah! An adorable, cheap, fun gift for friends and loved ones!

ETSY!

Yay! I finally opened an Etsy shop!  I am not sure I have the time and that is what was holding me back, but I figured I had to atleast try it.  It took a good week to list all the stuff I want to sell... loooong process.  Everything from my baby headbands and bows to jewelry, hair accessories, adorable magnets, bibs and burp cloths and a few home decor items.  I plan to add stuff to it all the time.  I am not expecting a thousand sales or anything amazing, its just fun to to actually make a little money doing something you love.  Lets see if I can balance this with decorating and redoing my house, taking care of Violet,  working out and still having time to sew stuff just for her.  My days are now full!
So please, if you haven't already, check out my Etsy Shop VioletAlice.  It's linked right there on the right side of this blog.  (Yes I know everything is mostly for girls, I need to whip out some boy stuff.  My brain unfortunately only sees pink glitter and tutus).
If you are looking for a specific thing like a monogrammed onesie or tshirt or an apron or really anything, let me know and I can do a custom listing.  The custom stuff is the fun stuff!

Thanks guys for checking it out.  Comments or input would be great!

Fun at the Park!

Sunday afternoon we took Violet to the park.  It was a beautiful day with amazing weather.. a perfect park day.  She went on the swings and Justin took her on the slide, she loved it all!  Then we just sat on the grass and enjoyed the sunshine.  Violet loves being outside.  I have been taking her out in the backyard to sit on a blanket and play with toys daily for the past week.  Despite her ultra grumpiness lately, being outside brings a huge grin to her sweet chubby face.

Terrible Teething

Violet has been sooooo grumpy lately.  I mean beyond grumpy.  She does not want to be put down at all.  It's been tough.  She doesn't want to play with her toys or scoot in her walker.  She has been waking up 5+ times a night and has been screaming randomly for seemingly no reason.  I finally took her to the doctor this morning just to be sure she didn't have an ear infection or anything.  Everything looked good so were thinking it's just the teething.  The doctor said her bottom and top teeth are about to come in and that once there are white spots on the gums, she won't really be in pain anymore.  Jeez louise please say they will pop through already.  Ugg.

Yesterday we went to the gym and made it about 30 minutes before they came and got me because she wouldn't stop screaming.  Poor thing.  We are gonna try some Ibprofen tonight to see if that helps.  Cross your fingers!

Violet's First Balloon!

I was grocery shopping the other day and saw some Valentines mylar balloons at the checkout and knew I had to get Violet one.  She loved it! I tied it to her walker and she just stared up at it and kept trying to grab it.  Buying fun stuff for your kids is like the most fun thing ever.  I can't wait to buy the Disney princess dresses and coloring books and all things girly!

And I saw this today at CVS and had to get it.  This summer she can put on some Disney princess gardening gloves and use her watering can.  Too cute. Way too cute.

Have a good rest of the day everyone!

Hanging Out With Daddy

Fridays Justin only works till 11 so we get to hang out with him all afternoon.  Violet and I enjoy our days with daddy.  This last Friday we went to the Folsom outlets.  It was a gorgeous day out, perfect for walking in a stroller.  I was really good and didn't buy myself anything (gasp, I know).  I got Violet a few things and Justin got some new running shoes at Nike.  After a little shopping we headed over to Tahoe Joes for some streak!  We love us some steak and mashed potatoes! Having Violet sitting with us at the table is just too much fun.

What a fun day!!

Happy 7 Months Violet!

7 months.. really?  Already? Time is really starting to go by fast.  The first 5 months or so felt like slow motion.  Everyone tell you to enjoy it because they grow up so fast.  I didn't believe them because I didn't really feel like that.. until now.  The first few months of being a new mom are so tough.  You have no idea what your doing, despite countless hours of babysitting and having younger siblings.  I think that's why I felt like time was moving so slowly.  Now I am getting the hang of things (except the sleepless nights) and time is flying right out the window.  Almost time to have another I'm thinkin'.  I run around all day like a chicken with its head cut off trying to get everything done and take care of 4 dogs and a baby... how hard could one more be? (all of you with more than one are laughing at me right now, aren't you?)

Sooo... Miss Violet is a healthy incredibly happy all the time super sized baby.  She loves to sing, shriek, giggle, chase the dogs in her walker, eat everything I am eating, drink out of regular water bottles, and talk to daddy on speaker phone when he is at work.  Her nickname is Monkey, I can't stop calling her it, she may think it's her name.  Eh, could be worse.  She loves her mama and now puts her arms out to be picked up by me or when someone else is holding her she will reach out to come to me (love this).  She enjoys watching cartoons, sticking her tongue out, chewing on paper, and trying her hardest to crawl.  She has become so squirmy lately as well.  It's impossible to get her dressed or change her diaper.

And with that... HAPPY 7 MONTHS MONKEY!
